maura goaley

Maua graduated from the University of Iowa in 2001 with a degree in Communication and minors in English and Psychology. Following her time at the University of Iowa, she attended law school at Creighton University School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2004. During law school, Maura had the opportunity to intern at the public defender’s office in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, public defender’s office in Sarpy County, Nebraska and at the Pottawattamie County Attorney’s office in Iowa. Maura also worked for a private firm during this time.

In 2005, Maura began private practice in Council Bluffs, Iowa where she continues to practice today. Her practice is primarily family law, juvenile law, guardian ad litem, family & child investigator, as well as mediation. Collaborative Law is an exciting new addition to Maura’s practice. 

In Maura’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as, volunteering at local non-profit organizations and church. Maura has been a board member for Camp Quality (a camp for children and siblings of children with Cancer) and has taught Junior Achievement for four years at a Catholic elementary school in Omaha. Maura has been a certified family law mediator since 2009. She is a member of the Southwest Iowa Bar Association, Iowa Bar Association, Southwest Iowa Mediation Center. 


Sara benson

Sara is a 2004 graduate from University of Nebraska. Graduating in 2004, magna cum laude, with an English degree, Sara followed in her parent’s footsteps of attending law school. She graduated cum laudefrom Creighton University School of Law in 2007. After law school, she practiced insurance defense in Lincoln, Nebraska before starting her practice in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 2008. Sara’s diverse practice includes criminal defense, juvenile law and family law.  

Sara is a member of the Southwest Iowa Bar Association, American Bar Association, Iowa Bar Association, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and National Juvenile Defender Association. She is a certified family mediator. 

Sara lives in the community with her two daughters and husband. She is a board member of Heartland Child Development and coaches the Thomas Jefferson High School mock trial team. 

When you walk into Sara’s office, you can tell she is family oriented from the many toys, coloring books, and pictures of her own children. She even brought her children to the office before they were old enough to attend school.  Wanting the best for you and your family is paramount to Sara’s practice.
